Learning by heart is one of the thing I found useless at school. Later, when I started learning languages on my own, I realised how useful it is. In order to improve my language skills, I decided to learn at least two per month in my language New Year resolutions. I believe that in this way I can improve vocabulary, style and make the way I use the language more natural. It also should have improve my memory and understanding of subtle nuances of the language.
The Walking Song
Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
