Qotillik – Uzbek short story

Written by Ioannes Oculus

In the first edition of the Uzbek Anthology for beginners you can find the first part of my murder story and the detective Henry Evans who tries to solve the mystery. The second edition of the Anthology is being prepared and the story is now longer. This is it’s current shape and I hope to write more before the second edition is published.

Great thanks to my Uzbek teacher, Fayzulla, who helped me with this story.

Amerikada bir tadbirkor yashar edi. Uning va do’stining kompaniyasi bor edi. Kompaniya juda katta edi va ko’p pul keltirar edi.

Kate Smith qichqiriqni eshitdi. Bu Johnson xonim edi. Kate nima bo’lganini ko’rish uchun tepaga yugurdi. Johnson xonim erining yotoqxonasiga ertalabki choyni keltirgan edi. U yotoqxonaning eshigi yonida edi, choynak va piyola yerda edi. Johnson xonim hushidan ketdi. Kate xonaga qaradi va u ham qichqirishini boshladi. U yotoqda janob Johnsonni ko’rdi. U o’lgan edi va ko’kragida oshxona pichog’i bor edi.

Johnson xonim o’z erini taxminan ertalab soat 8 da (sakkizda) ko’rdi. Politsiyaning tergovchisi Henry Evans ularnikiga keldi.

“Janob Johnson tunda o’ldirilgan” deb Henry Evans aytdi. “Hech kim eshik yoki derazalarni sindirmagan. Menimcha qotil uyda.”

Tergovchi hammani mehmonxonaga kelishini so’radi. Olti kishi keldi: xonim Christine Johnson; Kate Smith, janob Johnsoning xizmatkori; janob Mike Davies, janob Johnsoning biznes sherigi va uning xotini Barbara Davies; Edward Wilson, janob Johnsonning do’sti va uning xotini Dorothy Wilson.

Henry Evans “Avval Johnson xonim bilan gaplashmoqchiman” dedi. “Kutubxonada suhbatlasha olamizmi?”

Christine Johnson “yaxshi” deb javob berdi.

Ular kutubxonaga bordilar. U yerda ko’p kitoblar, eski va chiroyli ish stoli, ikkita kreslo va kofe stoli bor edi. Ular kresloga o’tirishdi.

“Siz kecha kechqurun nima qildingiz?” deb Evans so’radi.

“Tushdan keyin, men Kate Smith bilan kechki ovqatni tayyorladim. O’tgan yili, mening erimning kompaniyasi ko’p pul qozondi va biz uni nishonlamoqchi edik. Erimning tug’ilgan kuni ham bor edi. Soat oltida ovqatlanishga bo’shladik. Ovqatdan keyin aylanishga bo’rdim. Men ular bilan boshqa vaqt o’tkaza olmadim.”

“Nimaga?” deb Evan qiziqib qoldi.

“Ular hamma vaqt pul haqida gapiradilar. Erim yosh bo’lganida, u juda romantik edi. Lekin oxirgi yillarda faqat biznes va pul haqida suhbatlashishni istar edi. U mendan kompaniyasini ko’proq sevar edi.” Christine Johnson yig’lay boshladi. “Va endi u boshqa meni sevmay… sevmas edi.”

“Aylanishdan keyin nima qildingiz?”

“Taxminan soat to’qqizda uyga qaytdim. Erkaklar salondda edilar. Men ayollarning yoniga bordim. Biz ozgina suhbatlashdik va ozgina ichimlik ichdik. Erim baqira boshladi. Menimcha erkaklar bahslashdilar lekin nima haqida bilmayman. Charchagan edim.”

“Kim birinchi bo’lib uxladi? Sizmi yoki eringizmi?”

“Men. Taxminan soat o’n yarimda xonamga bordim.”

“Sizning eringiz qachon keldi?”

“Bilmayman. Biz boshqa xonalarda uxlaymiz.”

“Nimaga?”

“Men erim bilan yashashni istamayman. U yomon inson edi.”

“Siz uni o’ldirdingizmi?”

Christine Johnson yana yig’lay boshladi.

About the author

Ioannes Oculus

I am addicted to languages, both modern and ancient. No language is dead as long as we can read and understand it. I want to share my linguistic passion with like minded people. I am also interested in history, astronomy, genealogy, books and probably many others. My goals now are to write a novel in Latin, a textbook for Latin learners, Uzbek-Polish, Polish-Uzbek dictionary, modern Uzbek grammar and textbook for learners. My dream is to have a big house in UK or USA where I could keep all my books and have enough time and money to achieve my goals.
