English Languages Learning Linguistics

Do it regularly!

Never give up!
Written by Ioannes Oculus

How did you spend your holidays? This simple question can paralyse the student after summer. Those months of the joy of doing nothing. However, when the school comes, all that you knew has disappeared. The nightmare of learning things once again is so vivid some regret their laziness, but you can’t turn back the hands of time.

Regularity is a key to success in language learning. Some courses promise to teach you a language in 30 days. Wow! That’s great. But what next? If there is no contact with the language you can easily forget what you’ve learnt. Then the large sum of money you’ve spent on that miraculous course will be wasted. Our brain needs repetitions and constant workout. Do you believe those wonderful ads that promise you to lose weight? That’s why you’d better didn’t believe in those kinds of language miracles.

A new school year has just started, but it’s a great opportunity not only for kids. Plan your week and find some time for your language study. For a lesson, revision and some entertainment with a film or a book. It doesn’t have to be much, but it has to be regular. Then the real language miracles will start happening. Good luck!

About the author

Ioannes Oculus

I am addicted to languages, both modern and ancient. No language is dead as long as we can read and understand it. I want to share my linguistic passion with like minded people. I am also interested in history, astronomy, genealogy, books and probably many others. My goals now are to write a novel in Latin, a textbook for Latin learners, Uzbek-Polish, Polish-Uzbek dictionary, modern Uzbek grammar and textbook for learners. My dream is to have a big house in UK or USA where I could keep all my books and have enough time and money to achieve my goals.
