Learning Uzbek

An average day (in Uzbek)

Written by Ioannes Oculus

Here is a very simple text in Uzbek that describes hour by hour my average day. Naturally, it’s not an actual description, but just an exercise.

Men odatda soat oltida turaman.

Men tongi soat yettida nonushta qilama.

Men tongi soat sakkizda Ingliz tili darsini o’taman.

Men tongi soat to’qqizda Nemischani o’rgataman.

Men soat o’nda kofe ichaman.

Men soat o’n birda Polsha tilini o’qitaman.

Men soat o’n ikkida bozorga boraman.

Men kechki soat birda dars o’taman.

Men kechki soat ikkida abed qilaman.

Mening kechki soat uchda O’zbek tilini darsim bor. Men O’zbek tilida gapirshni xohlayman.

Men kechki soat to’rtda kitoblar o’qiyman. Men kitob o’qishni yoqtiraman.

Mening kechki soat beshda ispan tilini darsim bor.

Men kechki soat oltida ingliz tilida kitoblar o’qiyman.

Men kechki soat yettida choy ichaman.

Men kechki soat sakkizda tashlik qitaman.

Men kechki soat to’qqizda uxlaman.

I wrote this text after a great language exchange meeting with my Uzbek friend Mitxun. He helps me a lot. Mistakes are my own.

About the author

Ioannes Oculus

I am addicted to languages, both modern and ancient. No language is dead as long as we can read and understand it. I want to share my linguistic passion with like minded people. I am also interested in history, astronomy, genealogy, books and probably many others. My goals now are to write a novel in Latin, a textbook for Latin learners, Uzbek-Polish, Polish-Uzbek dictionary, modern Uzbek grammar and textbook for learners. My dream is to have a big house in UK or USA where I could keep all my books and have enough time and money to achieve my goals.
